Wawatay Native Communications Society serves the communication needs of the First Nations people of Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN). It does this through distribution of a weekly newspaper to 80 FN communities, daily radio programming reaching more than 30,000 FN people, television production services and a multi media website that seeks to preserve and enhance indigenous languages & cultures of Aboriginal people in Northern Ontario. Wawatay also provides translation and interpretation services to the NAN membership. Wawatay strives to promote Aboriginal news, people, culture & language and is the only newspaper that publishes stories in Ojibway, Oji-cree, Cree and English.
